Heather wrote her first play in New York, inspired after performing a mentally-challenged character, whom she couldn't seem to release at the end of the run. She felt a need, as in most of her writing since, to explore the unique viewpoint of those characters labeled "abnormal" in our society, and ultimately relate how their deepest humanity is not so different from our own -- and how living beside such characters alters and often improves the perspectives of those deemed "normal".... Oh, and there are some chuckles in there too. Her first film, Waiting Room, was produced by Cinapse/Donahuefilms with New York director, Tom Donahue, and actor, Jake Robards. A psychological mystery drama following a woman haunted by her past, as she anticipates a doctor's appointment that will change her life or leave her utterly alone. The Puppeteer, her latest screenplay, is a psychological suspense thriller about a rising children’s book author who falls in love with a felon on parole, falsely convicted of molesting a 13 year-old. As she digs for the truth, she unearths a web of deceit in judicial politics and her own past, more excruciating to face than any villain in her fantasies, which challenge her ideas of happily ever after… Her short play, Table for Two and a Half, has been produced at the Neighborhood Playhouse and the Gotham Theater in NYC. A short dark comedy about two woman, two worlds, two perceptions of love and reality. With a lemon twist... Heather studied with playwright, Jeffrey Sweet, and screenwriters, Robert McKee and Quinton Peeples, and graduated from Cornell University. |
